Songpull.com - A songwriting gathering place

By Don • Feb 6th, 2007 • Category: Songwriting Resources

songpull.gifSongpull.com is a community of professional songwriters, individuals who are willing to take chance at songwriting, and anyone interested in watching these events. The unique challenge of a Songpull is to write a song within the 30 days prior to performing it on video for the first time at a Songpull event. It’s about getting your song out there. It’s about camaraderie. It’s grassroots. It’s original music.

Songpull is inspired by the original “guitar pulls” of American music history. Artists like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Waylon Jennings would get together and write songs and “pull” the guitar from one another for their turn to sing. With Songpull you don’t have to be a music legend—just show up with your song and play it. Whether it’s a first draft or you’ve crafted it into a nice final product, it’s about performing the song in whatever form you’ve had enough time to perfect in 30 days.

Songpull began in March of 2006 and 10 short months has grown to over 9 cities and hundreds of Songpullers across the US.

Interested in the idea? Want to have your own songpull? You can have one just about anywhere, and the songpull team will edit your videos and publish them to the site. It’s free, it’s fun, it’s easy and it’s a great opportunity to network with other songwriters and friends. Songpull is for everyone that loves performing music, listening to music and trying something new.

  1. Regarding the auto play you mentioned here:

One thing you could do is just post a thumbnail with a link to the video. Or you could take a screen shot of the video and make an image out of it that links to a different page with the video on it. Does that help? If you’d like I can send you a screen shot with the linkage code.

  2. By the way, thanks for the post. This is the first time I’ve watched the live version. You mentioned liking it better. I did the audio recording before I showed up at songpull that night, so this was the first time it was performed, and there’s definitely some extra energy there with me trying to remember all the melodies and adding a little extra flair here and there. Cheers.
