Pro Tools (and other recording and production software packages) have truly leveled the playing field for songwriters and home studio enthusiasts. The barrier of entry in providing studio quality demos has been significantly lowered for the serious and mid-level home studio.
This age of technological marvels also comes with a price. Many songwriters spend so much time tweaking their studio and messing with new plugins and effects they forget about the whole reason they have a home project studio - for songwriting!
It is with this in mind that author Gina Fant-Saez writes the book “Pro Tools For Musicians and Songwriters“.
The beauty in this book is not the whiz-bang technology. Gina approaches the book as a musician who simply wants to get GOOD sound on tape … er … disk … of her original music.
There have been a couple of other books which have attempted to do what Gina has accomplished, but fall far short of her work.
The book is loaded with useful exercises which allows a musician to see the practical recording techniques in a real world environment. Not just a few exercises either. There are literally over a hundred useful exercises that directly benefit songwriters. In fact, one view of the table of contents will give you an idea of the magnitude of useful information.
Many books are filled with useless screenshots that do nothing more than mimic Digidesign’s help files. This is not one of those books.
If I sound like I am gushing, it is because I am. This is a book that has been needed for a long time. Gina Fant-Saez made it a reality.
I plan on wearing this book out myself.
